What do TGE and vesting mean?

When investing through Lithium Ventures, you invest in a project's token before it becomes publicly tradable on an exchange.* As such, you become one of the first investor in a project. This can often be an incredible opportunity, as early-stage investors get massive discounts to the public when buying the token.

*The instant when tokens become tradeable on public exchanges is called TGE (i.e. token generation event).

With that in mind, there is a trade-off. By being one of the first investors and being able to buy tokens at a lower price, you typically forego the ability to freely sell your entire investment once the token becomes publicly accessible. While a few projects exist that unlock 100% of your investments at TGE, this is uncommon.

How many tokens you can sell at TGE is different from project to project. The schedule/timeline at which your full investment unlocks is called vesting.
